celebrates it's 25thAnniversary!

2 November 2007

Who could have ever imagined that when MotownHead started as an occasional band in July 1982, it would still be alive and kicking 25 years later? - For Sure, no one who was part of that first edition of the band!

MotownHead was founded in the spring of 1982 to perform on the Nijmeegse 4-Daagse Feesten in July of that year by Rob de Waal and Jos Vossen. The start of MotownHead was such a success that the group decided to continue with the concept. Now, 25 years later, a lot has changed and the band has grown from a 5 piece formation to a professional full blown 12 piece soul act that has played on festivals, parties and theatres in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

MotownHead will celebrate this very special moment in it's history by giving a splashing funky 25th Anniversary SOUL party in the LUX Theatre in Nijmegen on Friday, 2nd of November 2007! You can order tickets for this great soul party at the box office of the LUX Theatre in Nijmegen.  Advanced booking tickets cost €10,- and €12,50 on the evening itself. In order not to miss this great party, we strongly advise you to order your tickets in advance to avoid that all the tickets are sold out and you can't enter the "not to be missed" party of the year!!!  So, don't miss this great night including: soul & funk DJ's, a short nice overview of MotownHead history, and of course, a splashing show of the band including the swinging Joyce Stevens, stage personality and soul preacher Brandon Delagreantiss and soul singer Eddie Taylor, as well as Soul Shake and the Booze Horns! So remember: Friday, November 2nd, 2007. Be there . . . or Be square!!

featuring The Funk Brothers

10 July 2003

Wednesday 9 July within the framework of the premiere of the Grammy awarded music movie 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown', MotownHead has given a splashing performance in Beach Club De Karavaan featuring the legendary Funk Brothers Uriel Jones on drums and Ivory Joe Hunter on keyboard. Manager, guitarist and author of the equally named book 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' Allan 'Doctor Licks' Slutsky was joining on guitar too. A beautiful evening for the guests as well for the musicians of MotownHead, who had the honor to play live with these legendary soul veterans.

An evening with unique moments like for instance Thommy Keys from MotownHead together with Ivory Joe Hunter playing the keyboards with the 79-year old Joe stating: 'You guys sure know what you're doing!'  During shooting the interview for the Dutch current affairs program Nova Uriel Jones suddenly got indisposed and had to return to his hotel as a result of which the planned jam session for Nova had to be called of unfortunately. Later that evening Uriel tells Roger & Vince from MotownHead: 'Well, when you're young you might forget to bring along your drum sticks, but when you're old you just might forget to take your medicine!'  In excitement Uriel just forgot to take his medicine for his by-pass.

A beautiful unforgettable evening with unique moments. For more pictures of MotownHead together with the Funk Brothers click here. In September 2003 MotownHead starts with it's activities regarding S.I.T.S.O.M. in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Check this site in order to stay informed...
